Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
