Close to 25,000 Left Without Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms

Around 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on the start of the week after intense storm systems passed over the area, bringing strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.

Large Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction

Locals witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts confirmed that various areas across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the region, primarily for building damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

• Wyndham region - 179 emergency requests

At the height on Sunday, over twenty-eight thousand energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.

Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.
